David O'Neill named the company Lightplay, to reflect his passion and understanding of light. Having studied lighting design at the Bartlett School of Architecture, Lightplay retains strong professional links within the architectural lighting community. Although most small-scale lighting design projects can be 'discussed through', larger projects may require a more detailed design approach, such as virtual 3d lighting animation. This allows design ideas to be seen in greater detail whereby lighting concepts can be represented in CAD and then imposed on to the architectural space. It allows the client to see how the space will be 'lit' before any 'potentially expensive' decisions have to be made. Once agreed, these concepts can then be drawn up as working lighting diagrams and then integrated into the electrical specification of the installation.
Design procedures and costs can be discussed on the initial consultation.
